Located at 46-50 Congress Street on the corner of Fleet Street, Portsmouth, NH. Constructed in 1878 on the site of the National Hotel, which was destroyed by a fire in 1877. Frank Jones had bought and remodeled the City Hotel into the National Hotel. Previously the hotel was known as both the Cutter House and Mansion House. When the hotel burned, Jones employed the building contractors Foster & Dutton of Waterville, Maine, to build the National Block. |
