Details |
Transitional and emergency housing at 600 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, NH. Organized in 1982, the shelter's first building was businessman and philanthropist Joe Sawtelle's 103 Marcy Street (today home to the Player's Ring), which opened on Feb. 1, 1984. In June that year, Sawtelle purchased the Pine Tree Hotel (formerly Webber's Rustic Lodge) and converted the main building to the new Cross Roads House shelter, which opened in 1985. An apartment building was also moved to the site. In 1988, the non-profit organization purchased the building from Sawtelle. By 2009, the earlier buildings were demolished for a new facility. |
