Webber's Rustic Lodge with 15 modern cabins advertising hot and cold water, showers and flush toilets, 600 Lafayette Road, Portsmouth, NH. Until the early 1980s, Lester Webber was the proprietor. In addition to the main lodge and cabins, he added a motel. Joe Sawtelle purchased the lodge and motel, and in 1984, Cross Roads House Inc. moved onto the property. Cross Roads provides emergency and transitional shelter to homeless men, women, and children in the Seacoast area. In 2008, as part of a capital campaign to improve the facility, the former lodge/motel (seen here) was demolished. |
