Court St, from Water (Marcy) to Pleasant, was formerly called New Highway, Pitt St. after the William Pitt Tavern in 1777. From Pleasant to Middle St. it was called Low St., and afterward Jaffrey St. At the east end of the street, were the gardens of Theodore Atkinson (1697-1779) . By 1839 it extended to Marcy and was called Court in its entirety. |
