Melon-shaped silver teapot on raised foot; D-shaped silver handle; curved spout; pineapple finial on hinged lid; body and base have die-rolled border of leaves, lid has border of acanthus leaves; marked "Baldwin & Jones" in rectangle on bottom. Inscribed on side of pot: "Presented by the N.H.F & M Insurance Co. to Captain Geo. F. Blunt for his spirited and successful exertions in saving the Ship Thomas Wilson when Stranded on the Isle of Shoals in Feby. 1810." |

Capt George F. Blunt of Portsmouth was a ship's captain and part owner of the Eudora. (cf. C06.534.1) The NH F & M Insurance Co. built the Athenaeum Building in 1805 and sold it to the Athenaeum in 1823 The ship Thomas Wilson was insured by the NH F & M Insurance Co.. Baldwin & Jones were active in Boston 1813-1819. |
