Description |
A small oval portrait miniature. Front side shows a painting of a young man dress in grey with powdered hair. Background is light blue. Image is set in gold. Back of miniature shows the letter "P" on ivory, which is set atop a weave of what looks like hair. A ring of tiny gold stars surrounds the letter. Back of miniature is also set in gold. Front and back of miniature can be snapped apart. Miniature came with a red leather case. Inside of case is lined with silk, with the words "Edward Parry, London England, 1800". Miniature also came with several hand-written notes from Angelina Maria Owen Valentine (nee Parry) describing Parry's life and family. Notes are dated May 22, 1890, but two of the notes seem to be in different handwriting. |

Mrs. Valentine was one of Parry's daughters. Edward Parry came from Wales to Portsmouth and set up as a merchant, building himself a large house on Pleasant Street. (now Haven Park). He also built a commercial building on Market Street (still standing). |
