Description |
View of the Arabella Rice House, 12 Islington Street (later 67-69 Islington), on the corners of Parker and Pearl streets, Portsmouth, NH. Undated. On the 1920 Sanborn map, the building was still standing with a one-story brick ell along Islington Street occupied by a grocery and tailor. In the spring of 1930, H.M. Parker Chevrolet Co. was constructing a new sales and service station at 67 Islington Street, which indicated the Rice Mansion was gone. Below and handwritten in pencil is the caption, "Arabella Rice, Islington." Rice died in 1872. |
