View of the US Navy recovering the wreck of the Sub Squalus back to the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Kittery, Maine. Digital copy. Typed caption on album page is as followed: "Bringing in the Squalus. The submarine Squalus failed to surface after a test drive on May 23, 1939. After working all summer to raise the Squalus the rescue fleet brought it in to the Shipyard on September 13." Original image scanned and returned to owner. |
