The event also featured a luncheon, demonstrations, and the party of Gov. H. Styles Bridges who held the Governor's Ball at the hotel on June 14, 1935. According to an article in the Portsmouth Herald, the exhibit featured women from both the Women's City Club and the Graffort Club dressed in colonial costumes walking in and out of the door exhibit. Door came from a "colonial mansion" of a wealthy sea captain. Another article identified the doorway as coming from the Henry H. Ham house. Sign says: Portsmouth Garden Club 24. |
