The sign advertises sales and service. Image and report (see link) by Ralph S. Foster Co., Inc., as part of the original Sales Study (Original) for the Acquisition Appraisal for the Vaughan Street Project, Portsmouth Urban Renewal, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Each sale was selected for "the purpose of assisting in the determination of land value within the area of the taking." According to the report (Land Sale #10), Margaret Coakley et als sold the property to Francis J. Costello on Feb. 1, 1963. Costello was the owner of the auto dealership. On the typescript report under the comments section is the following: "Access only to Cottage Street. Some fill needed. Good view from Route #1 - Commercial Influence, non-access." |
