Looking across the urban renewal site from Deer Street to buildings still on Russell Street in the North End, Portsmouth, NH. The red building on the right was the Simeon P. Smith House (94 Russell Street). This building was saved and moved to the nearby Hill; however, 63-69 Russell Street (the gray Greek Revival building) and 73-75 Russell (the brown building in the middle) were demolished. Present site of the Sheraton Hotel. |
