View the Elm House at the foot of State Street (site of the Memorial Bridge approach), Portsmouth, NH. Undated. The image comes from "They Came To Fish" by Ray Brighton, first published in 1973 and revised in 1979 and 1994. In the 1979 edition, the caption was as follows: "Back in Portsmouth Red Light days this was the Elm House in the vicinity of the approach to Memorial Bridge. The place was operated by Eva White. Note the balcony because it shows up in still another picture. (Patch Collection Photo)" En verso on is the stamp for Garland W. Patch of 372 Court Street, Portsmouth, NH. File Number 111. |
