Description |
The Newmarch House at 33-35 Deer Street, Portsmouth, NH. Also known as the 1705 House, the Newmarch House was built by John Newmarch, who also built a building next door called the Deer Tavern. It was from the Deer Tavern (advertised by the sign of a deer) that the street derived its name. During the Vaughan Street Urban Renewal Project (1967-1972), the 1705 house was dismantled and moved to mid-coast Maine where it was incorporated into a dwelling home. |
