Images PS1476-PS1480 are of the YMCA building (built in 1905) & Alfred W. Haven House on Congress Street, front and rear images, c.1918. Writing on some photos was possibly done by YMCA planning a garden behind the YMCA and the former Haven House, which YMCA purchased in 1916 from Haven heirs. (Reference P18.101) PS1476 is of Congress Street, Portsmouth, NH. L to R: YMCA Building and "Everybody's Store," Alfred Haven House, 79 Congress, 77-67 Congress. Sign on YMCA entrance states "Building Now Open...Enlisted Men." |
