Exterior front view of a retail commercial block, formerly the YMCA building and now occupied by Goodman's department store, at 135-145 Congress Street in the North End, Portsmouth, NH. Image and report (see link) was for Parcel 12-9 in the "Appraisal Report and Valuation Analysis for the Portsmouth Housing Authority, N. H. R-10 - Vaughan Street Project, Portsmouth, New Hampshire" report by Ralph S. Foster Co., Inc. Date of appraisal was March 17, 1967. Parcel 12-9 was owned by Melvin H. Goodman, and the building was not acquired during urban renewal, but the parking lot behind the department store was taken. The buildings on either side were demolished during urban renewal. On the typescript report, the first-floor interior and entire exterior was remodeled 1961-1962. |
