Members of the "Toy Booth" pose in front of the booth during the street fair benefiting the Girl Scouts of Greater Portsmouth at Haven Park and along Livermore Street, Portsmouth, NH. Raising $1,400 for the Girl Scouts, the street fair was designed by a Miss Seymour of Boston & Virginia Tanner Green of Boston & New Castle, NH. According to the Portsmouth Herald, the event was supposed to occur on Saturday, July 28, but inclement weather postponed the fair until Monday. Members of the "Toy Booth" were dressed as peasants. This included Mary I. Wood as chair, Mrs I. E. Ewer as Mother Goose (second from left), Amy Schurman, cashier, with assistants Dr. Sarah Sidis, Dorothy Adams, Mrs. John Dolan, Mrs. Wallace Garrett, Misses McCammon and Mary Carey Dondero (far right). |
