Gilmore and Bruce E. Ingmire, the caption is as follows: "Turn of the century view of the Wentworth Gardener [sic] House (center) in the South End of Portsmouth. The cupola of the South End Meeting House can be seen at left. The South End Meeting House was rebuilt at the end of the nineteenth century and is now the Children's Museum. The house of Tobias Lear, private secretary to General George Washington, is located on the extreme left of the photo. Courtesy of the Portsmouth Athenaeum." |
