Snapshot of the Buckminster House at 1-7 Islington Street on the corner of Bridge Street, Portsmouth, NH. Undated. The image comes from "Rambles About Portsmouth" by Ray Brighton, published in 1994. The caption was as followed: "Buckminster House. The Rev. Joseph Buckminster married the widow of Eliphalet Ladd. The Ladds were the parents of the "Apostle of Peace," William Ladd, and they built the house, but it's Buckminster's name that is tagged to it. Author photo." The house was actually built by Daniel Warner. |
