"Jim" Giambalvo signing the Housing and Urban Development federal contract for the $5 million Vaughan Street Urban Renewal Project in Portsmouth's North End neighborhood while other PHA commissioners looked on. From left are the other commissioners: Edward I. Shaines, Frank Fate, Maurice J. Murphy Jr., and Keiven E. Gillis, vice chairman. Press photo appeared in the Portsmouth Herald on April 30, 1968. According to the accompanying article, the federal approval for the 30-acre renewal project was received on Feb. 21, 1968. |
