Description |
View of a duplex at 44-46 Bridge Street in the North End, Portsmouth, NH. Image and report (see link) by Ralph S. Foster Co., Inc., as part of the original Sales Study (Original) for the Acquisition Appraisal for the Vaughan Street Project, Portsmouth Urban Renewal, Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Each sale was selected for "the purpose of assisting in the determination of land value within the area of the taking." According to the report (Land & Building Sale #22), Martin & Jane Navelski sold the property to Theodore & Lavina Bartlett on December 5, 1963. On the typescript report under the comments section is the following: "Deteriorated Section. Crowded. Very little land. Best Use - Apartments, small units. Parking lot. influ." Today, the double doorway and first-floor windows have been altered. Building at left was a carriage house / barn for 7 Islington Street, but was converted to an office / commercial space. A new building stands on that site. |
