In 1920, the Y.W.C.A. began on the corner of State and Fleet street in the building known as the Nathaniel Treadwell house and the John Davenport house. The "Y" removed to 29 Daniel Street (c.1949), and the Treadwell house was threatened with demolition. Eventually, the building was moved to its present site on Court Street in 1956. |
