Founded by Edward Fleetford Sise in 1818. Originally specialized in the importation and sale of Crockery and Glass ware. Emphasis shifted in 1831 when his packet schooner Fawn arrived with a full load of sea coal. Gradually became the principal business. Purchased from E. F. Sise & Company in 1896 by its former clerks, Charles W. Gray and Herbert O. Prime. Specialized in Wilkes-Barre coal and Worcester salt. |

Her papers reflect both the income received from rents and investments of her former husband and money paid out for living expenses such as home maintenance, heat, groceries, and doctors' bills. As she aged, her business affairs were managed by Georgina Halliburton and G.W. Haven.
