  2. S0864 - Portsmouth Lyceum Record Book

    Record Book includes an act of incorporation, signature list of members, ideas for lectures, and a schedule of lecturers and topics. The book begins with an account of the first meeting of the Lyceum at the Court House in Portsmouth on September 15, 1834 under the leadership of Charles Burroughs, Charles A. Cheever and Charles W. Cutter.

  3. S1601 - Deeds for the Sinclair lot on the corner of Middle Street and Richards Avenue

    Deeds for the lot that was the site of the Thomas Haven-Decatur Octagon House on the corner of Middle and Richards (241 Middle Street), home also of Rear Admiral George Washington Storer until it was demolished in 1866. The new French Empire style house that replaced it became known as the Charles A. Sinclair House. Other adjacent properties were bought to supplement the lot and a carriage house was built.
