Invoice from Pomp Spring (1766-1807), a self-emancipated Black man, Portsmouth baker, and president of the Portsmouth African American Society, to William Lewis, a man of color. The bill in the amount $30.97 was for loaning Lewis money to pay Capt. John Davis for Lewis's wife's passage from Boston to Portsmouth and for her room and board in Portsmouth.
