Ellnora was originally the daughter of Lars Nielsen (b. 1843) and Thora Engebredson Nielsen (1857-1897) and had a previous name. She was adopted circa 1894 by the Richters from the Ingebretsen family, Norwegians who emigrated to the Isles of Shoals. The Richters renamed her Ellnora; we do not know her previous name.
