On July 23, 1951, he was hired as meter officer for the Portsmouth Police Department, promoted to patrolman on Dec. 31, 1951. Suspended Feb. 3, 1953, for "conduct unbecoming of a police officer." He was reinstated, and he resigned on Oct. 22, 1955; then owned George's Beauty Salon, 73 Congress in 1956, at 15 Daniel Street in 1959 and then at 5 Market Street in 1962. Prior to joining the police force, he was employed as an electric welder at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard and employed in the Portsmouth Herald maintenance department; US Navy veteran. |
