There were two "Lem Caswell's" at Gosport, and in tracing their town participatin, it is not clear whether Lemuel L. or Lemuel B. is meant. Lemuel B., however, is clearly identified as constable in 1852 and selectman in 1859. Lemuel B. Caswell built the Atlantic House in 1856, which in 1875 was incorporated into the New Oceanic Hotel. |
