Distribution of common lands in the town of Portsmouth to its inhabitants,1699 |
Scope & Content |
Portsmouth: March 27th, 1699 Whereas sundry of the inhabitances have made an application for the distribution of all the common lands within the town for that each person having due proportion thereof maybe the better enabled to bear the public charges arising in the same annum (year) voted that all said common lands be divided amongst the inhabitances in equal proportions according to their respective rates and that seven persons be chosen for making said distribution. The persons chosen for that endeavor, afore said, is as follows: vix: Capt. [Tobias] Langdon, William Cotton, John Sherburne, John Dennett, Leonard Weeks, Mr. Mark Hunking, John Pickering Sr. A true copy taken out of the 3rd book of records public Samuel Keyes: town clerk |
