Admin/Biographical History |
Portsmouth Advocates Inc. was formed in the 1970s to encourage the preservation and restoration of historically significant structures in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The group conducted two photographic surveys. The first, done in 1982, documented buildings primarily in the historic district by dating, describing, and photographing each one. It was intended as a tool for the community to understand the structure and history of buildings. The second survey, called the "West End Survey," was done in 1991. It was aimed toward the creation of the book, Building Portsmouth. |
