|
Photocopies of diary discussing Walker's activities as a farmer in Rye, New Hampshire; a worker at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in the 1840s; and master of the "Sarah" in 1838. Includes accounts relating to goods he shipped to Boston, farmers, and crops. Topics include the Millerites predicting the end of the world, famine in Ireland, Great Comet of 1843, fires in Portsmouth in 1845, crossing the Piscataqua on ice in 1857, drownings, accidents at the navy yard, shipwrecks, storms and local weather. Also includes a list of the eight Walker children.
