Plot plan of 39 acres 110 rods of land in Sandown, N.H. sold by Matthew Bryant, measured by Phineas Sanborn, June 3, 1771. Three promissory notes: William Seavey to James Foster, November 25, 1800; William Ham Jr. to Enoch M. Clark the sum of $227.45, May 23, 1812; James Smith to Edward Call the sum of $10.60, January 17, 1817, all in Portsmouth. List of items (mostly casks) sold by B M to Edward Call of Portsmouth, April 3, 1818. Receipts of Edward Call of Portsmouth for the redemption of taxes levied on various properties in Franconia N.H., February 1, 1819. List of lands and names of property holders whose land was sold to the United States for non-payment of taxes in 1815 and 1816. Towns include Sandown, Brentwood, Raymond, Deerfield, Kingston, East Kingston, Candia, Hawke (now Danville), and Poplin (now Fremont). Tax Collector Edward Cutts, of Portsmouth, writes to Joseph Towle in Brentwood or Epping, asking him to make enquiries regarding them. Dated November 20, 1820. Formal notice to Gilbert Pickering from Nancy Pickering, Winthrop Pickering, and John L. Pickering that they have divided the property line as required on their adjacent tracts of land in Newington, May 6,1833. Various expenses incurred by Thomas E. Oliver written on the inside of a printed notice of the Annual Meeting of the Stockholders of the Concord & Portsmouth Railroad to be held in Portsmouth at the Court House on October 6, 1859. Receipt for purchase made by Lyman Littlefield from Fellows & Son, manufacturers of lumber in Suncook, N.H., for the sum of $426,52 in March 1897. Mortgage loan application by Susie P. Littlefield of 23 Union Street to the Portsmouth Savings Bank, June 30, 1903. Notice to J.B. Harvey of a bounced check written on September 23, 1904 and drawn by George A. Robie, presumably in Bristo, N.H. where the notce was sent by William C. White, notary public, September 28, 1904. Letter card from E.E. Carpenter of Wakefield MA to Charles H. Mitchell of Dover ("Opp. City Hall Repair Shop"), N.H. relaying that he has seen a copy of the Laws of New Hampshire of 1913 and that the Act approved therein "makes ample provision for carrying on a suit on So Car Bonds" (see Chap. 245 re South Carolina Bonds), July 23, 1913. Willis Herbert Little of Portsmouth's honorable discharge papers from the United States Army, Camp Devens, MA, April 10, 1919. Letters to Joseph Stella, 204 Rockland Street, Portsmouth, one from the Deputy Consul General of Italy in New York City dated September 18, 1946, and another from the Italian Consul General in Boston dated October 25, 1946, first informing him that the property in S. Arcangelo di Romagna belonging to Settimio Alessi of 127 Bridge Street, Portsmouth that was confiscated during the war is now being returned to him and then how to secure it formally. Includes items in Italian from the bank in Bologna dealing with the transfer. Deposition of Florence Santosuosso, aged 18, of Washington Street, Portsmouth, regarding a day spent at Rockingham Park and Canobie Lake, Salem with Gertrude Kelleher, aged 15, of Gate Street, and Earle Fox, aged 39, of Miller Avenue, September 10, 1952. Letter from R. (Robbie) W. Barnes in Apapa, Lagos, Nigeria to his sister, Mrs. Mamie Barnes Burton of 179 Union Street, Portsmouth acknowledging receipt of her letter and his dispatching her requirement, January 12, 1955. |
