Whereof the trustees or overseers of the town of Portsmouth have moved to us underwritten for callings of a public town meeting, to make choice of trustees, or overseers constables,? clerk of the market, surveyor, & sealers of leather and other offices now full for the town, for the year in ? or to agitate any town concerns that may be present And whereof there is an order of compel dated the 3rd day of March 1682. That the trustees or overseers of the several towns presume not to call a public town meeting about any town business without ? from the justice of the justices of the peace of the said respective towns, we underwritten, do give ? to trustees or overseers of the town of Portsmouth to call the town together for the ends aforesaid when they think it most convenient. Dated in Portsmouth in the province of New Hampshire the 27th of March 1683 Nathaniel Fryer Justice of the peace William Vaughan These are to ? notice the trustees of this town having ? ?? to call a town meeting all the inhabitants of this town are desired to meet at the meeting house on the 11th of April being noonsday come ? night about 9 of the clock in the morning The Justices ? to call town meeting 1683 |
