One page letter from Lynch, Killikelly & Morony in Bilbao to John Langdon in Portsmouth. Arthur Lynch, Bernard Paul Killikelly, and John Morony were the three principals in the Irish merchant company Lynch, Killikelly & Morony. See also MS050 B01 F33.02 for an account of a 1778 voyage in the "Portsmouth" to Bordeaux. Says that in March they sent him three copies of letters they wrote to John Henry Delap in Bordeaux on the subject of the "Portsmouth." "This affair will never be terminated but by a composition with the people of Bordeaux." The owners of the cargo and ship recovered the insurance. They can get no answer out of Messrs. Duff & Walsh about their dispute with Butlers & Matthews re the debt of Pablo de Alvares. Gives prices that fish is selling for there in Bilbao. In a postscript they say that a war between the Emperor and the Dutch is believed to be inevitable and it is feared that "it will be a long and general one." Dated November 25, 1784. |
