Correspondence, mainly stampless covers, collected by Michael O'Traynor. Letters involve a variety of dates, correspondents, and subjects. Dated 1755 to 1888. O'Traynor, a 1962 graduate of Portsmouth High School, was a stamp collector. FOLDER CONTENTS 1. Stampless cover from Joshua Blanchard in Boston, Mass., to George Frost in New Castle, N.H. Concerning shipping. Dated November 18, 1755. 2. Stampless cover from Jos[hua] and Allen Crocker in Boston, Mass., to merchants Samuel and William Hale in Portsmouth, N.H. Concerning unpaid bills and mentions "warr, warr." Dated June 28, 1798. 3. Stampless cover from Bailey & Bogert in New York, N.Y., to merchants William and Charles Neil in Portsmouth, N.H. Concerning payment for Thomas Sheafe's draft on Robert Lenox. Includes an itemized bill. Dated August 6, 1801. 4. Stampless cover from Cazeaux Freres & Co. in Bordeaux, France, to James Sheafe in Portsmouth, N.H. Concerning a bill of lading for the ship Eagle of Boston. Typescript of undated and unpublished poem entitled "Fame," with annotated punctuation and autographed by Celia Thaxter.
