Group from the North End of Portsmouth, NH, at a Sons of Italy lobster and clam bake at the historic brick schoolhouse, 1 Plains Avenue, Portsmouth. The event was held as a fundraiser for scholarships. Seated from left: Frank Costanza, unknown guest. Standing from left: unknown guest, Bobbi MacLennan, Carmelo Anania, Jane Pirini, Dominic DeNuzzio, Antonio Vaccaro, Albert DiPaolo. The man in the background on the right is William Marconi. Carmelo was best known as "Carlo the Barber". Many in Portsmouth received their first haircuts at Carlo's Barber Shop on Daniel Street where he and his brother Paul worked together. |
